PA66 BASF A3K Resin

PA66 BASF A3K Resin

Material Introduction: PA66 BASF A3K (Shanghai BASF) is a high‑flow, unreinforced general‑purpose injection‑molding PA66 resin. Its core advantages are excellent processing flowability, good mechanical strength, wear resistance, oil resistance and electrical insulation, with UL94 V‑2 flame‑retardant rating. Its inherent water‑absorption property will affect dimensional stability and partial performances; strict drying is mandatory before processing.

Main Applications

Electronic‑electrical industry: Cable connectors, electrical‑insulation components, terminals, switch housings and relay sockets.

Automotive industry: Intake manifolds, radiator fans, engine‑hood covers, fenders, oil pipelines and oil reservoirs.

Mechanical parts / Industrial fittings: Bearings, gears, pulleys, pump housings, high‑stress structural parts and industrial mechanical components.

Other fields: Sports‑equipment parts (ski‑shoe bases), medical‑device parts and consumer‑daily articles.

Injection Molding Parameters

Processing Item Recommended Range / Condition Notes & Explanations
Drying Treatment Hot‑air drying at 80 ℃ for 2‑4 h; alternatively 85 ℃ hot‑air drying. Vacuum‑dry at 105 ℃ for 12 h for opened packages or moisture>0.2%. Critical operation. Control moisture content ≤0.15%‑0.2% to avoid hydrolysis‑induced bubbles, silver streaks and mechanical‑property deterioration. Use immediately after drying or seal and keep warm properly.
Melt Temperature 260‑290 ℃; alternative 280‑300 ℃ (recommended 290 ℃). Fine‑tune according to equipment and part geometry. Avoid temperature>300 ℃ or long residence‑time to prevent material degradation.
Mold Temperature 60‑80 ℃ (recommended 60 ℃ / 80 ℃); alternative 80 ℃. Mold temperature affects crystallinity and physical properties. Thin‑wall parts molded below 40 ℃ require annealing for geometric stability due to time‑dependent crystallinity change.
Injection Pressure 750‑1250 bar. Adjust per product & mold design.
Injection Speed High‑speed injection (200 mm/s); reduce moderately for reinforced grades. Fast filling is beneficial; mold shall be well‑ventilated.
Runner & Gate Gate bore ≥0.5*t (t = part wall thickness). Hot‑runner gate size shall be smaller than conventional runner. Minimum diameter for submarine gate:0.75 mm. Nylon solidifies rapidly; gate location and size are critical for filling.
Holding Time 10 min (thermoplastics). Depends on part wall thickness.
